What happens when you take two great ideas with three syllable phrases and put them together? One really difficult tongue twister. Needless to say, if you've been debating about that trip abroad; stop waiting and go already!
As a member of the Art of Backpacking team; the site is designed to encourage travelers to travel on a budget; with style. My personal style of traveling is by traveling on a budget. Being able to visit exotic destinations like Barcelona and Hawaii, through low costs. As a youthful 20-something, it's hard for others to grasp the idea that a young, solo female can travel without breaking her wallet.
Traveling and writing have been my passion since I've been able to watch Globe Trekker on television. For me, traveling isn't about a laundry list of countries you've been to. But, the interactions you make while you're there. The idea that one can be this exciting traveling nomad seems crazy, but is possible. Or, to at least find yourself in places you've always dreamed of and making it your reality.
Anyone can be this person that is a globe trotter. Anyone can find the passion to plan a trip abroad and do whatever it takes to get on that plane. And once that idea starts; it's all about research and planning! Travelers' Night In™ (#TNI) has been the greatest resource for hands on, or tweets-on advice about basic travel questions. Connecting with travel guru's or travel newbies makes you want to get off that computer and head on the road.
Next thing you know, you've gone on one or a few adventures around the world. You've finally seen the Taj Mahal in India. You ate with locals in Beijing. Now, you are the one giving others travel advice. This was my story. I was once a traveler with an empty passport; dreaming of foreign destinations. To only be so lucky to share my stories with others and hopefully motivate them to get off the couch and off to see the world!
In mid-September, the Art of Backpacking team will be hosting this new event to highlight these ideas. Meet, Plan, Go will be the first event to acknowledge and celebrate the idea that anyone can take a career break or take time to travel. Soon, this idea that we can all be travel gurus and cross things off our bucket listwon't be so foreign after all. Social interactions with travelers are what opened me up to this idea that it's okay to take time off my life to finally live. Meet, Plan, Go gives travel enthusiasts the opportunity to meet the face behind the travel blog and to hear these personal stories first hand.
