Wine Riot in Boston – NIGHT ONE
For a first-timer going to Boston, the Wine Riot was a great way to get out, meet some cool people and learn a ton about wines that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Wine Riot is put on by Second Glass who give you a crash course on how to best attach the Wine Riot – expl
aining the mobile app built for remembering all of the wines at the , show you a lay of the land and give you a quick lesson on how to Taste – Swirl – Sniff – Taste – Spit!
Rachel and I took to the Wine Riot like pros! Friday night was the “Night of Bubbles.” We had our glossary of terms ready to approach the more then 250 wine – with Balance – Body – Blend-Dry Fermentation (my personal favorite) – Finish – Nose – Oak-Old World (Rachel prefers old school – but for the evening conceded to Old World to fit in) – Tannin – Varietal – Vintage – we took a crash course in Alternatives to (expensive) French.
Champange – where the premise was you don’t have to spend $50 – $100 + to drink a baller bottle of bubbly. It was very informative and we learned how to saber a bottle of Champagne – it was all fun and games until on girl “blew her bottle up” literally!
Some of my personal favorites last night were:
- Esporao – Portugal their Monte Velho white was delicious retail $10
- Yellow + Blue – was a clear winner for me last night for so many reasons:
- Their to commitment to the planet.
- Their awesome owner who is so smart, young, fresh and is turning the wine industry on its ear and changing the way wine is manufactured – bottled and shipped all keeping the planet in mind.
- All four of their wines we outstanding but my favorite was their Sauvignon Blanc from Central Chilie.
- Ty.Ku Sake – Rachel and I found out last night that Sake is not be served warm as they do in the Japanese restaurants.
- A clear winner for both of us last night was a “Ginger Assassin.”
- Ginger Assassin – – 2 pt TY KU Sake and 1 Pt Ginger Ale – DELICIOUS!
