Wine Blending – Parsonage Vineyard

Wine Blending – Parsonage Vineyard

"Welcome to Parsonage! I’m Bill Parsons” is what I heard as I was greeted with a glass of chardonnay upon arrival.  Parsonage Winery in Carmel Valley is family owned and operated and there is no shortage of hospitality from the moment you arrive. This is not your standard tasting room or wine tasting, is it above and beyond.

Following the introduction, we divided into teams – suggested teams included; males vs. females, couples, family members, etc.  At each station there are four different bottles of wine all labeled with different colors but no indication as to what kind of grape is in each bottle. First everyone tastes each wine, to try and determine each grape. Now the fun begins! With 2 measuring beakers the wine lovin' teams pour in as much or as little of each type of wine. Gradually the taste of each blend becomes better and better, as I’m sure you can imagine. The teams determine their winning blend, then make note of the percentage of each wine added. Next Bill, the host, will proceed in bottling the new creation! Teams get to cork the bottle and create a custom label with a gold pen.  Once each team has finished with their creation the judging can begin.  A blind tasting of each wine begins, and then groups determine which is the winning bottle. Sadly, mine was not a winning blend but it was certainly a great journey to making it!

If you are looking for a unique group activity or team building event I encourage you to contact Parsonage to book your next event in California.
