Week Two: ZipSetGo.com Takes On a Whole Lotta Truck - 2011 Ford F-150
For week two of the Ford "Kick the Tires" series, we took on the power and capability of a new 2011 Ford F-150 and we all felt that this is A LOT of truck! Check out our videos and blogs below and Ford-Life's Traveler's Guide to the 2011 Ford F-150.

Oh, Ford F-150, how do I love thee?? Let me count the ways...
This truck is made for me and my adventurous family!
The love affair started when I went to get into the vehicle and the lighted running board showed me the way. Once inside I was blown away with the driver programmable LCD productivity screen – it showed me detailed vehicle information, fuel economy and the towing information on and off road. My family camps all year long in all kinds of weather, so with this truck's tow power, we can pull everything (camper, trailers, boat and all weather gear) and fill our year with a ton of outdoor fun! The rear view camera mounted on the tail gate will ensure I will be able to line up to the trailer hitch every time...the first time! The rear view mirror also has a sensing system that sounds an alarm when I am about to back into something (I wish I would have had that a few years ago when I backing into a pole!). This Ford F-150 is a work horse, looks amazing on the outside and functions inside like a spacious SUV. With it's state-of-the-art sound system and entertainment system, lots of leg room in the rear cab for the ZipSetids and plenty of compartments to store phones, maps, and snacks, Ford has thought of everything to make our summer road trips extremely comfortable and stress free!

Ford F150 – Taming the Beast
I recently drove the Ford F-150, with Andrea & Caitlin in tow, and I have to say I was a little scared, and not just because back seat drivers make me nervous. The F-150 is way bigger than I imaged, or remembered from my equestrian days. I rode around the country in an F-350, but this truck is from a whole new generation. Gone are the hard bench seats, I found myself comfortable in leather heated seats with power and lumbar support. The F-150 even had a sunroof, something I had never seen in a truck before. Don’t get me wrong, it was definitely still a truck – pine wood details, buttons instead of a touch screen, and well, it’s just big.
Looks: The F-150 looks as cool as a truck can. I like it, for a truck.
Technology: The truck calculates the MPG for the trip in the dashboard, a number you may not want to know. My drive around the neighborhood clocked in at 10.7 miles per gallon, not what a city girl (on a budget!) wants to see.
Drivability: Luckily for me the rear-view mirror has a back-up assistance camera so I could see where I was headed, and the visibility and drive was great. In fact, I think the F-150 drives a lot like car, easy to steer, good pick up and go, and great breaking.
Would I trade my Accord? Nope, the F-150 is definitely a truck with class, but I don’t think it would fit in my parking spot.

A Lot of Truck!
Everything about the Ford F-150 is big…HUGE! If you have any
towing or hauling needs, then this is the truck for you. The integrated tailgate step lets you step up into the bed of the truck with little effort, making loading and unloading a breeze. For towing, the rear view mirror has a camera that makes reversing and connecting a trailer hitch simple and stress free. And, with all this towing and hauling, the F-150 has plenty of power to back it up!
The inside of the cab is equally spacious and comfortable! The back seat has three full-size seats and enough leg room to accommodate the tallest of teenagers. In addition, you can fold up the back seats giving additional cargo room. When driving this truck, I felt like a giant among giants, sitting up very high and being able to see over just about every car or SUV around while. While very easy (almost car-like) and comfortable to drive, it was hard to forget the enormity of the vehicle as I maneuvered around town.
But, I have never been a “big car” girl and this truck did not change that. I don’t have a need for towing or hauling capability and have always leaned toward smaller cars or at least smaller SUVs. Although, it was fun to be a “giant among giants” for a week, I will still lean toward a smaller more fuel-efficient vehicle.

Comments
Trucks with this size needs a lot or power from its engine! The 150 variant of the F series is trully the most beloved truck of Ford. Whenever using this truck for travel purposes you need lighted hitch covers for easier access during the night.
Wow - those ZipSetGo kids are smart!!!
