For week one of the ZipSetGo.com Ford "Kick the Tires" series, we got a try out a new 2011 Ford Edge and it is safe to say that we all enjoyed this crossover more than we anticipated...loved it! Check out our videos and blogs below and Ford-Life's Traveler's Guide to the 2011 Ford Edge.

By now you know I am a girl on the go! My family leads a very fast-paced life style and we need a vehicle as versatile as our as activities.  First up on our “Kick the Tires” challenge was the 2011 Ford Edge.  It’s a great looking crossover vehicle that didn’t compromise on style for functionality.  From the state-of-the art “MyFord Touch” system, to the Panoramic Vista Roof with its safety canopy system, the Edge has taken driving to the next level.  I like how Ford has incorporated additional safety features like the side view mirror blind spot indicators, nighttime lighting within the vehicle (key areas in the car glow), and the rear camera for reversing.   I also found the 69 cubic feet of storage space efficient for holding all of our weekly activity gear and flowers for our yard and garden.

However, for my family, we need a vehicle with maximum tow power to pull our camper, boat and trailers, so while I would give this car a “10” for busy people and family’s on the go, my family needs a tow vehicle for our adventure travels.

I am a young city dweller, so I am looking for a car that is hip enough with a good sound system, will last a long time, and squeeze into tight parking spots. Being environmentally conscience I would also like great has mileage, while still being fun to drive. I am going to admit; I had no idea whatsoever what the Ford Edge was. I was expecting some sort of large Taurus station wagon – not the modern-cool cross over I got to drive this week. The Edge kept surprising me, pleasantly, all week:

Looks: The car is cool looking: sleek and modern, not too large, and young enough for me. I like it. Would it fit in my tiny parking spot downtown? Barely.

Technology:  Holy gadgets, this car is loaded! The entertainment system is a large touch screen, and can be accessed through the steering wheel and dashboard screen (not that I need more distractions). The touch screen and options are lot to get used to, but again, very modern. I loved the Sirius radio and sound system.

Drivability: I need this car. The large screen automatically turns into a camera when backing up (which is good, because the visibility is limited in the back), which I totally love and would definitely take advantage of. Equally great are the indicators in the side view mirrors that light up orange when someone is in the car’s blind spot. Drove well, and I found out I do like sitting up a little higher.

Bonus: The giant panoramic sunroof – with pop up bug blocker. The huge front sunroof opens up to let the outside in, and the back seat passengers get one as well.

Would I trade in my Accord? You bet.

I have wicked commute – 150 miles, round-trip!  So, I have some pretty specific wishes for my dream car including comfort, good gas mileage, high-tech treats and low road noise.

The 2011 Ford Edge is a gadget-lovers dream…and I am a gadget lover! I could not get enough of the MyFord Touch. This hands-free, voice-activated, completely personalized screen was literally hanging on my every word. On my command, it dialed my friends, adjusted the temperature, played my favorite music, guided me to my next destination and more. This spectacular in-car technology is the complete package!

The smooth and quiet ride and spacious cargo area would make this an ideal car for my small family of three, however the Ford Edge falls a little short of my fuel efficiency wishes at only 19 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway. With the mileage that I log each week, I need a vehicle that gets a little more bang for the buck.

The ideal car is the one that has powerful features and looks sleek. We are all more or less enthusiastic about cars. But with cars we could also reach out to people in a different way. We could easily go for car donations programs. So consider being a part of this.

This is a great cross over, its got good suspension and the technology in the car is like a dream come true. Fully voice activated, ready to take commands and do accordingly couldn't ask for me. My first shopping with my new Ford Edge was buying wedding ring sets for my marriage and was an experience I shall never forget

The combination of high wages and high efficiency is called fordism and was copied by most major industries. The efficiency gains from the assembly line also coincided with the economic rise of the United States. The assembly line forced workers to work at a certain pace with very repetitive motions which led to more output per worker while other countries were using less productive methods. Thanks.

Tires on early automobiles were made of thin rubber and were sometimes of poor quality, hence a prospective buyer might kick them to see how thick they were or if they would deflate. Thanks for sharing.

Being a Ford Edge owner, I must say that it gives you hell of a good riding experience. Though I have the white variant but I prefer the black one. Recently, while purchasing a suspension lift kits from a local garage I encountered a Ford Escape 2011 and found it more appealing though. Did anyone tested that one yet?

While buying car we should go for the one that suits our needs and style. Some fabulous cars have recently been launched in the market. I love traveling a lot with my friends so I decided to buy Winnebago Motorhomes. This is a great vehicle to have.
