Groups often find themselves in Palm Springs because of the fantastic Palm Springs golf resorts. Seriously, there are a ton of courses and each one is better than the next (so I am told). Palm Springs hotels also boast some amazing amenities and beautiful grounds. I am here to tell you that you don’t have to be a golfer in order to enjoy Palm Springs. There are quite a few amazing activities that are just right for kids of all ages (including adult “kids”).

I had the opportunity to stay at La Quinta Resort and Spa (sometimes also referred to as La Quinta Resort and Club) in Palm Springs recently. Have you been to Palm Springs in November? It is beautiful. Generally speaking, the air is crisp, the clouds are few and it’s the kind of weather that makes you want to stay outdoors. When I was there, it was cool and dry in the mornings but much warmer in the afternoons. A light jacket for the mornings and evenings was a necessity.

I recently spent some time at the Westin Kierland Hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was my first time working with the hotel property, and I am here to tell you – I hope to have a reason to return. From the corporate meeting space to the luxury spa to the people, I think that the Kierland Resort and Spa is a top-notch property for group travel (and individuals for that matter). Here are just a few reasons why:

Recently, I have learned about people with gluten intolerance (extreme sensitivity to the protein – gluten – found in wheat, barley and rye). I wanted to really understand it and decided the best way was to jump in with two feet and try a gluten-free diet. And so I went cold turkey -- not for health reasons or because I had a gluten allergy, but to say I did it and see if there were any health benefits.

I have had many flight delays in my travels, with only threats of cancelled flights. That is, until now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out.

So as you know, I am a fan of all things in the city. I prefer not to sit on a beach all day, even though I’m from the East Coast and have spent many summers basking in the sun on the beach. For as long as I can remember I have said I can die happy if I get the opportunity to visit Australia. As I’ve started to travel more, my list has expanded. Some are unusual, while others are touristy. Here is my travel bucket list:

Rouen, the capital of Normandy, is about 1.5 hours from my hotel. It was rainy so I was glad our first stop was the art museum, Musee des Beaux Art. What a cool museum! When we walked in one of those live statues kind of creeped me out but it was really cool. Lunch was served in the main entrance foyer. A beautiful room – all marble with skylights to let the natural light in and huge scenic paintings on every wall.

Honfleur is an incredibly cool town! Our bus pulled into the heart of the town, overlooking the dock filled with sail boats and surrounded by tall town houses. The air was crisp and fresh; I was there midmorning but felt it like sunrise or sunset because of the overcast clouds and the sun trying to poke through. The lighting of the town is very unique; I later learned the lighting is a key part of the town’s ambience, attracting artists of all kinds.

Back to international travel … and flying to FRANCE! I was really looking forward to this trip. I flew business-class direct from Washington, DC – so what’s not to look forward to? (Other than no sleep.)  Air France’s business-class is amazing – it will definitely be hard to go back to economy-class after that flight. Shortly after we were airborne I surfed the in-flight TV movies; many were not yet even on DVD! Two movies, dinner and a short nap and we were in Paris!

Before I go to a new place I try to research merchandise that is unique to that destination. Whether it’s food, wine, jewelry, clothes or coffee, each place offers merchandise that will keep your memories alive long after you return home.

I’m a big city connoisseur. I thrive in city life; love city travel. There are so many different types of people that give each city its unique personality and vibe that brings it to life. Give me a week in any big city and I’m in heaven!

My philosophy: I like to stay busy and constantly experience new things; that’s why I chose the travel profession. I’ve been exposed to situations and experiences that you’d never believe.

Life goal: I want to eventually travel to every country around the world. Eat in every five-star restaurant. Visit every great museum. Engage in other cultures. And really just live my life to the fullest.

The secret to my success: Always be detail oriented! Make sure every detail is right.  I’m also a list person; keeping it short and simple, to ensure nothing is missed – I would rather do things right the first time!

Tag-along with me on my next big city adventure.
