I am not a sports fan, and I don’t claim to be one, but a baseball game over the weekend in Chicago made me realize why baseball is America’s favorite pastime.

Since it was Sunday, July 4th, spirits were high headed into the game. Our gang was decked out in “America” gear, all sporting red, white and blue. But just because those were Cub’s colors, doesn’t mean we were rooting for the home team. We were all from Ohio, and went to undergrad at University of Dayton or Cincinnati, so the Red’s were our team!

The first New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in April, 1970, was born out of a spontaneous, momentous meeting where multiple jazz and music festivals happening the same weekend came upon each other setting up their separate festivals and started singing and playing their instruments together. And when others joined in the celebration, the “Spirit of Jazz Fest” was born.

After wrapping up a week of work in Los Angeles, I headed to Kona, Hawaii. I was kind of excited to already be halfway there, meaning less time in an airplane seat and less jet lag. Fortunately, I was flying mid-week, which meant fewer people and more space to stretch out!

Finally the sun was out; it was warm, perfect for walking around. Our cab driver dropped us off by the history museum and the University of Texas Art Museum; not what we originally requested but turned out to work better than we had planned. After snapping a few pictures in front of the star at the history museum we headed to the Texas Capitol Building; snapped a few photos, checked out the building, walked up the stairs, saw the house and senate rooms.

If you are among the lucky and received a spa gift certificate for Valentine’s Day, here are a few spa tips that I have picked up from my journeys (and working with groups). You certainly don’t want to miss a minute of the spa experience!

At the start of the year, many people set New Year’s resolutions, and I’ll bet that the top 10 New Year’s resolutions include goals such as “lose 10 pounds” or “get to the gym more.” This year, I did see a lot of people who have added “do more volunteering” to their list. It’s on the top of mine.

Rachel and I spent our Sunday evening helping the Humane Society of Dayton with their annual fundraiser – Cat Walk at the A-Cat-Emy Awards 2010! Instead of simply writing humane society checks, we decided to volunteer – and had a whole lot of fun in the process.
