OVERVIEW

Things to do in Barbados

Barbados sits just outside of the main chain of Caribbean Islands, about 100 miles beyond the rest of the Eastern Caribbean. It is a coral island, with some of the most beautiful white-sand beaches anywhere. Barbados has a population of about 260,000 – which is quite high considering its size – a mere 267 square miles. With 60 miles of coastline, Barbados has much to offer its guests in terms of water sports and beach activities. However, Barbados is still very British. Afternoon teatime is observed and cricket is the national pastime. And Bajans, as they call themselves, possess a bit of the English reserve.

Tourism is big business on Barbados, and most visitors who come to the island are looking for that comfortable mix of the familiar, peppered with just enough local flavor to feel “exotic.” So if guests are looking for a Caribbean island with plenty of amenities, water sports and nightlife, Barbados fits the bill.

Barbados offers an unbeatable range of accommodations, from elegant resorts to intimate guesthouses. Dining is a feast for all senses with restaurants serving up specialties to suit every taste and pocketbook. Plus, there is plenty of nightly entertainment from clubs with dinner and dancing to theaters with year-round productions.

I was able to see quite a few things while in Barbados, my favorite spots:
1.    The Animal Caves - explore inside the cave or enjoy the scenery on the north point of Barbados.  Don’t forget your camera or your comfortable shoes for exploring!

Luxury = Sandy Lane Hotel
by Sara Beth on Nov 22, 2010

Last week I spent a few days on the beautiful island of Barbados, and let me tell you, I fully enjoyed the warm climate and laidback atmosphere.  I was expecting my week away to be similar to other Caribbean getaways, but Barbados, and the Sandy Lane Hotel, plays by different rules.

St. James Barbados has some of the best amenities when it comes to luxury resorts. Ideally located seaside restaurants create an unforgettable dining experience especially among the couples spending their honeymoon on this romantic island. Delicious options from seafood to meat dishes are made available on a daily basis. Sweet concoctions are also there to please your appetite, knowing that sugar productions has been its number one source of revenue.

Take a tour of the island and be amazed with the paradise-like vibe it offers. Make sure to get a reservation before you visit Harrisons Cave which is a unique attraction of limestone caverns.

Barbados is great for anyone looking to get outside and enjoy the sun. There's plenty of things to do in Barbados; from going on submarine rides, to surfing, to enjoying their botanical gardens or any of the various night-shows. Crane beach was my personal favorite as I love to lay out on the beach all day.
