Moving through my whirlwind tour of the Caribbean and loving every minute of it. There’s not a moment to lose!
Next up: Anguilla. I stayed in Cap Juluca and all I can say is WOW! This place was stunning. I was amazed at how pretty my room was, and I found it strange that they didn’t lock the rooms from the outside; you can only lock it once you are inside your room. When I asked the front desk why the rooms were like that, they simply told me they have never had a break-in at the hotel. And I did feel very safe there.
My favorite part of the room was the outdoor patio and lounge chairs that were set up in the sand several feet away from the water. Every morning the sand was sifted and cleaned, which at first I thought was kind of strange, but it was very cool to watch the machine go through the process of making this happen.
And listen up all you fitness enthusiasts. The hotel also had the best fitness center with great equipment and individual televisions.
Anguilla had some really cool places to eat. After all, this is the Caribbean; the food is flavorful and very colorful to say the least. Here are some highlights:
- Pimms – Pimms offers a great view of the ocean; it’s situated right along the water. Word of advice, though: be careful of the crashing waves; you can really get soaked because the tables are placed right up to the water’s edge.
- CuisineArt Hotel – I went here for a cooking class one afternoon. I actually liked this hotel better than the one I was staying in, and I loved the one I was staying in! The infinity pool at the main entrance of the hotel was spectacular. They grow and use a lot of their own products from their hydroponic farm. In the cooking class I took, we created an excellent white fish recipe with couscous and baby kale. It was a scrumptious light lunch, and to top it off, we were given the recipes so we could duplicate them at home!
All in all, I had a great time in Anguilla and would definitely make another trip there.
