There are plenty of great places to dine and drink in Sydney, but by far my favorite turned out to be the Argyle, located on Argyle Street in histroic “Rocks” area of Sydney. It didn’t come with the pretentiousness of some of the other more hip places that I had visited, and it still had a nice size crowd to mix with.
The first thing that will catch your eye about this place is they roll out the red carpet, girl’s best friend. So when going there be sure to get dressed to impress and wear your heals. There is a great courtyard for summer nights. The inside is just as charming as can be with modern light fixtures juxtaposed with the original dark heavy wood. I absolutely fell in love with this place.
As for the staff, the bartenders were for the most part knowledgeable. I ordered the sushi plate to share with my guests and it was much larger than expected, fresh and reasonably priced. I was quite impressed. However, take note: You can skip the chocolate cake, not that impressive.
Once you have a glass of wine or maybe a mojito downstairs, head upstairs for some dancing. The DJ booth is suspended in the air, and plays a mix of tunes that are perfect dance music. Once upstairs, be sure to try a Lychee martini; it’s the bar’s specialty drink and delicious.
I had a great time at the Argyle and can safely say you won’t be disappointed with your visit here. My group loved it so much, we threw a private party there, and the management was more than accommodating. Every time I went there, I had an absolute blast and stayed out later than I expected, which is always a sign of a quality party place!
