Things to Do in Palm Springs

Things to Do in Palm Springs

Groups often find themselves in Palm Springs because of the fantastic Palm Springs golf resorts. Seriously, there are a ton of courses and each one is better than the next (so I am told). Palm Springs hotels also boast some amazing amenities and beautiful grounds. I am here to tell you that you don’t have to be a golfer in order to enjoy Palm Springs. There are quite a few amazing activities that are just right for kids of all ages (including adult “kids”). When I was last there, I stayed at La Quinta Resort and Spa – a phenomenal venue (be sure to read my thoughts on LaQuinta Palm Springs).  A few of my favorite activities include:

Community Awareness – “Build a Bike”

  • If you are looking to add a volunteer activity for your group, the “Build a Bike” event is a great team-building or family activity. Small groups design and build a bike with the help of qualified and entertaining instructors. In total, the activity lasts 2-3 hours and is great for the afternoon. Not only does it benefit the bike builders, but the completed bikes are given to those in need. What a rewarding afternoon!

Culinary Classes

  • I highly recommend offering your group cooking classes in Palm Springs. My trip was in November, so all of our creations were holiday oriented – the class was called “Holiday Treats from the Kitchen.” This was probably my favorite activity. The gourmet cooking school, called “Cooking with Class,” was located a few miles from La Quinta Resort. Not only does the cooking school offer private party space rental in the day but evening classes for all levels and interests as well. One I would love to try – “Simply Trader Joes,” an evening cooking class based solely on cooking with Trader Joes’ products.

Living Desert Zoo and Gardens

  • While I didn’t get to go on this activity, I heard great things about it from those with small children. It was a nice break in the day and a good addition to the group activity offerings. I know I would have liked it though because I do enjoy visiting zoos in different cities.

Golf (the obvious)

  • The Palm Springs golf resorts made me sorry that I’m not a golfer. From the sidelines, I can say that the courses are beautiful and the golfers came back happy. For those guests who do not play golf, we offered a Palm Springs Golf School as one of the activity choices. That way guests could at least say they golfed while in Palm Springs, but they did not have to commit to an entire day of it. Phenomenal golf instructors are available for the golf academies.

La Quinta Spa

  • I happen to think that the spa at La Quinta is one of the best in the world. As soon as the doors to the outside world shut, it is as if nothing else exists. The waiting area is amazing – complete with indoor and outdoor options. Definitely advise your participants to get to the spa in plenty of time. They will not want to miss out on a thing. The treatment rooms were also fresh, crisp and relaxing – everything you would want them to be.

As you can see, this is just a glance at the amazing activities Palm Springs has to offer – a great destination for groups or individual travelers.
