A Lesson Learned on a Cruise

A Lesson Learned on a Cruise

Being a world traveler, I know that you should always place liquids in a zip-lock bag; but knowing something and actually putting it into practice are two different things. A couple weeks ago, I boarded a cruise to the Bahamas, thinking that I did an excellent job of packing and getting prepared. I even read the cruise docs close enough to note that there were not any irons in the staterooms because of the fire hazard.

Being the thrifty girl that I am, I decided to bring an entire spray bottle of wrinkle releaser rather than have every item in my wardrobe pressed once there, like I usually do. Unfortunately, my wrinkle releaser spray did not fit into the standard 1-gallon plastic bags, so I decided to turn the nozzle off and lay it on my neatly packed clothes. Why I trusted Delta to delivery my luggage un-rattled to Miami is beyond me (although at least they didn’t lose it!).

I opened up my suitcase to discover many of my cruisin’ ensembles drenched in wrinkle releaser, costing me even more to get them washed once aboard. Lesson of the story – take advantage of on-site laundry services! They are convenient, and worth a little extra money to keep you looking your best while abroad. Either that, or invest in some seriously large, and leak-proof plastic bags!
