Wherever I travel, I love to sample the local cuisine. Kauai didn’t disappoint me! Here are some Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa on-property restaurants I enjoyed:

  • Dondero’s – Great Italian cuisine though the portions were small. Loved the shrimp with capellini and I’m not a big pasta fan! Nice servers and a beautiful view of the ocean.
  • Kupono Café at Anara Spa – Great place to go if you are looking for a quick and healthy bite. Very fresh and light; great lunch salads and fresh juice. Loved the “Farmed Local Greens” salad with seared sashimi ahi and the white balsamic dressing.
  • The Dock – A casual pool/ocean-side restaurant. I did not have lunch or dinner here, but on the last day my friends and I enjoyed the soft-serve ice cream bar; you serve yourself and can add any topping you wish. After making our ice cream treats we went for a walk on the beach.

Here are my off-property restaurant favorites:

  • Koloa Fish Market – I had lunch from here almost every day; reminded me of the market I loved so much in St Martin.
  • Daily fish specials are great with salad and homemade rice recipe. You get a lot of food for a very low price which is probably why it is a popular spot for the locals. Carry-out only.
  • Keoki’s Paradise – This is a great local and tourist spot with live music, but very loud. I recommend a reservation inside the main restaurant because the music is so loud in the bar you cannot hear the people you are sitting with. Service was okay but seemed slightly under-staffed when I was there. My favorite was the fish tacos; the fish and chips are also good but the whole fried platter is a bit too filling for me!
  • Roy’s Poipu Bar & Grill – Located in the Poipu Village Shopping Center and across the parking lot from Keoki’s Paradise, this was a more upscale dining experience than at Keoki’s. I recommend making a reservation. The service was great: evening managers were very attentive, the bartenders were entertaining and the servers were knowledgeable. I loved the edamame (baby soybeans in the pod) as well as the apple dessert.
