New York, New York. The Big Apple. Gotham. The City That Never Sleeps. The Capitol of the World. Manhattan is roughly eight miles long, but between South Ferry and Inwood Park and the four surrounding boroughs it covers the world. Its raw energy pulls me in in a New York minute. I came to school in New York City to be involved in the long standing traditions of Columbia University and the vibrancy of this urban mecca. It is impossible for me to separate being a student at Columbia from being a living part of the NYC mosaic. Homework assignments have taken me to the Museum of Modern Art to see Picasso, to Chelsea to see the art galleries, and Chinatown to taste one of the city’s many cuisines. Moreover, as a member of the Columbia track and cross country team I experience NYC on foot every day – a wonderful way to people-watch in Central Park. Have New York—any way you like it.
