OVERVIEW

Things to do in New Orleans

The cultural riches and unparalleled entertainment options that have defined New Orleans for decades continue to flourish in the “Big Easy.” The most-celebrated and historic core of the city – including the French Quarter, Central Business District, Warehouse and Arts District, Magazine Street, Garden District, Audubon Park and Zoo and St. Charles Avenue – is thriving. In fact, Orbitz and Travel + Leisure chose New Orleans as one of their top destinations for 2007, and The Today Show named it as number two in its “America the Beautiful” series in August 2007.New Orleans is located in southeastern Louisiana, just north of where the Mississippi River enters the Gulf of Mexico, and is a major commercial and tourism center for the southern United States. This is a city perfectly suited for a fun-filled, exciting getaway. Guests will enjoy non-stop nightlife, the best traditional jazz music in the world, shopping in the French Quarter, exploring the beautiful homes of the Garden District and many culinary delights.

New Orleans is like no other place in the world. It is often referred to as the most European of American cities, but it is much more than that. Start with Amsterdam, stir in some Caribbean, add dashes of Cartagena and Memphis, and the recipe for this amazing city is just beginning.

We're Just Saying

New Orleans from an Insider's Perspective
by Travelers Night In on May 16, 2012
File under: New Orleans, Louisiana

My name is Brian Nelson and I am in love with the city of New Orleans, its diverse people and its myriad of cultures.  New Orleans, or NOLA, as the locals most commonly refer to it, has caught me in a snare, entranced me, seduced me with all the things that make it special and the promise of so many other things I've yet to discover. I have this burning desire to peek around every corner, step into every shop and discover every little secret.

NOLA Bound...Day 3

Last, but not least, Day 3: we slept in today to better prepare for a late, final night.  Once we were showered and ready to roll, the girls and I made it a point to leisurely shop all day.  But before hitting up Royal Street, we made a stop at a bar across the street from our hotel for some lunch.

Day 1: Our flight arrived into New Orleans airport early, and the terminal was completely bare - our luck was turning around!  We had no trouble collecting luggage and finding a taxi and, within minutes of landing, we were on our way to the JW Marriott New Orleans.
