OVERVIEW

Things to do in Los Cabos

A beautiful contrast of desert and ocean, the region of Mexico known as Los Cabos is located at the tip of the Baja California peninsula. This region consists of two towns, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, which are divided by a 20-mile strip known as “The Corridor.”

The landscape of Los Cabos is stark and dramatic. The convergence of the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Cortez surrounds a dry finger of land where trees are rare but cacti are common. El Arco, Los Cabos’s most famous landmark, is a striking arch that has been carved from rock by centuries of pounding waves.

The Los Cabos region and Cabo San Lucas have become one of Mexico’s most elite resort destinations. Though legendary for what lurks beneath the deep blue sea, Cabo San Lucas now draws more people for its rich fairways and greens – and the world-class golf played on them. The hundreds of new luxury hotel rooms being added in this area cater to both travelers away for a long weekend or those seeking a pampered stay filled with sports and relaxation.

In Los Cabos, the fun doesn’t end when the sun goes down. Cabo San Lucas is still the playful party scene that helped put the area on the map, and the nightlife here is as hot as the desert in July. A collection of popular restaurants and bars, spread along Cabo’s main street, stay open and active until the morning’s first fishing charter trips headed out to sea. Despite the growth in diversions, Cabo remains more or less a “one stoplight” town, with almost everything located along the main strip, within easy walking distance.

Saddle Up! Tips for Horseback Riding on Vacation
by Rachel on Sep 21, 2011
File under: Los Cabos, Mexico

Last week I was back in lovely Los Cabos, where I saddled up to one of my favorite pastimes – horseback riding. I grew up with horses, so riding comes natural to me; however I know it can be daunting to first time riders – a 1,000lb animal can be a little intimidating! That being said, horseback riding is a great way to see a destination. Slow enough pace to take pictures, but still cover a lot of ground while having an unique experience. Wondering how to make the most of your ride?

Why Summer 2011 Isn't Allowed to End Yet
by Rachel on Sep 01, 2011

Although it is still plenty hot in Ohio, the tell-tale signs of fall have been showing up; cooler mornings, shorter days, and most notably, all my dude friends getting fired up about football. It’s not that I dislike fall, it’s that I love summer. And that’s why I am calling for a time-out, a delay, or extension of Summer 2011.

Flight Gods, Food Poisoning and the Dominatrix

You never know who you might meet on an airlplane! Like many frequent travelers, I typically avoid engaging in random conversations with strangers en route to a destination – on airplanes, in airports, etc.  It’s not that I feel that travelers who are in the physical act of traveling are less worthy of my attention than those I meet at a destination. Maybe it’s just that getting anywhere these days has become so riddled with difficulties that I prefer to wallow alone in my misery.

More than just a pretty Beach, Cabo San Lucas Mexico
by Rachel on May 04, 2011
File under: Los Cabos, Mexico

Cabo is known for being a luxurious beach destination easily accessed on the Baja Peninsula. I recently spent three days there, and not one of them at on the beach, or downing margaritas at the local hot spots. So what else is there to do? As it turns out, there is plenty to do without burning yourself on a beach, or fighting a corona induced hang over.

One of the top travel destinations among Hollywood celebrities, this island is a really great and clean place to spend your vacation with.  The people are very warm and friendly and there are numerous stores to shop from. What I enjoy the most every time we visit Los Cabos is the activities and a variety of water sports.
