OVERVIEW
Things to do in Lake Como
Lake Como, or Lario as the Romans called it, is the most famous of all lakes in Lombardy, North Italy. It is renowned for its mild climate, hilly landscape with rich vegetation and palatial villas inhabited by the rich and famous Italians and foreigners attracted by the superb environment. The “Queen of Roads,” skirting the edge of the lake from Como to Colico, is a succession of regal hotels and parks that are part of lakeside towns such as Cernobbio, Moltrasio, Argegno and the peninsula of Tremezzo with the unparalleled view of the promontory dividing the Como and Lecco branches of the lake. The main city is Como which offers historical landmarks and excellent shopping, particularly silk produced locally, to travelers visiting the city. Como is world famous for its vast selection of magnificent fine silks manufactured in the area. The delicate landscape that surrounds Lake Como is divided by high hills from Switzerland’s Lake Lugano. This is a truly beautiful part of the world.
