Newport Just a Short Trip from Boston

After my quick visit to Boston, I was off to Newport, Rhode Island, for my brother-in-law’s graduation from the Naval OCS (Officer Candidacy School). I was looking forward to spending a few days with my family in a place none of us have ever been. I never realized how small the state of Rhode Island is; from tip to tip (north to south) it is only 48 miles.

Hyatt Regency Newport

My family and I stayed in the Hyatt Regency Newport; I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel was. The rooms were huge and very comfortable. We were on the ground floor, but had a large patio, a great view of the ocean, outdoor pool and yard. The Hyatt Regency Newport is definitely a hot spot for locals and visitors alike; there were two proms and three weddings on property that weekend. So it’s safe to say, the Hyatt Regency Newport can accommodate a large and a small group. And there is a lot to do within walking distance of the hotel.

Downtown Newport Shopping

Downtown Newport is beautiful! There are tons of restaurants of all price levels as well as high-end and less-expensive shops. Be sure to go early because many of the shops close at or before 8:00 PM. If shopping isn’t your thing, check out the History of Goat Island tour, mansion, walking and other museum tours.
Within the Hyatt Regency Newport there are two restaurants, one bar and a coffee shop. Also check out the spa and fitness center. There is so much to do and see both in and outside of the Hyatt Regency Newport. It is a place I hope to visit again soon!
