OVERVIEW
Things to do in Hamilton Island
At the heart of the Great Barrier Reef lies a stretch of rainforest-clad mainland and a chain of pristine and beautiful islands sparkling out of the blue. This is the Whitsundays, Australia. One of Australia’s most spectacular regions, situated on the northeastern coast of Queensland, the Whitsundays boasts 74 tropical islands rising from pristine turquoise water and a vibrant coast full of life. This unspoiled environment is characterized by extensive national parks, protected waterways and easy access to the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef.
Hamilton Island is the largest inhabited island in the beautiful Whitsundays. With direct flights daily, a wide range of restaurants, activities, shops and regular daily tours to the Great Barrier Reef, it’s no wonder Hamilton Island is one of Australia’s favorite island destinations. More than 70% of Hamilton Island has been carefully preserved in its natural state, which translates into beautiful beaches, dense rainforest national park land, native bush trails and spectacular lookouts.
An array of activities, including snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, reef fishing, waterskiing, jet skiing, parasailing and sea kayaking offer something for everyone. Guests can enjoy spectacular sunsets while dining at an array of award-winning restaurants. Hamilton Island also features fantastic shopping with 20 boutiques and specialty stores throughout the Marina Village and resort center. This 1,482-acre island is a place to experience everything or enjoy doing absolutely nothing.
