The Good, The Fun and Gifts you wish you had the “gift receipt” for!
Holidays are wonderful – you spend time with your family, eat way too much and run around like a chicken with its head cut off making sure everyone is “happy”! Fun right?
Well, I thought I would recap some highlights of my Christmas season in three buckets – The Good – The Funny and the WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? I encourage you to add to this post in under any category you would like and share holiday tales and photos.
Starting with WONDERFUL! As cliché as it sounds this year the best part of my Christmas was spending time with my family! This year my sister and her four girls were in town and it was great because we haven’t seen them since Easter! My brother-in-law is currently serving and has been in Afghanistan since February so it was awesome to have the girls with us surrounded by so much love - while they were missing him terribly! With the technology of today, Zoe (my 9 year old niece) was able to face time with him while we opened gifts and throughout the day so at least he was “kind-of” with us. It was surreal, to be in the kitchen cooking dinner and chatting with him like he was on a business trip and just couldn’t make it home. We maximized our time together and had the schedule full of movies, outdoor ice skating, skateboard parks, shopping and spending time together!

How my brother in law spent Christmas in Afghanistan
On to funny. The funniest moment of my Christmas season could also be filed under 'what were they thinking'. I still get a good laugh every time I tell this story! I received a snowman for Christmas that is motion activated and meant to be put in your bathroom, when you walk in and while doing “your business” it talks and sings to you (again, could be filed under – gifts you wish to return). Anyway, my niece Cate, who is 3, went to the bathroom and didn’t know I had put the snowman on the window seal, and when it started talking to her - she screamed and peed all over the floor ! After a couple of minutes she calmed down and told the 4 year old niece: “Sammy no go in bathroom – snowman scary.” Needless to say the snowman is no longer in the bathroom, but every time Cate has to go she asks if he’s back.
On to the 'What were they thinking' parts of my Christmas. What is the gift you received this year that you will regift or wish you had the receipt for so you could return it? You have read about mine, but I thought I would share the gift my husband received that I wish we could return too. He received a gas powered BLENDER! Don’t get me wrong – we love a good frozen drink every now and again but this Blender is SERIOUS! It has handle bars and a saddle bag! Are you going to mix drinks with it or ride it? I don’t know but it’s going to the lake with us this summer and its sure to get a few laughs.

The gas powered blender!
Looking forward to hearing your holiday stories! Share some pictures!
