Chicago Architectural Boat Tour

I just spent the Fourth of July weekend in Chicago. Every time I visit, I try to do at least one touristy thing in addition to enjoying my friends, and this weekend it was the Architecture River Cruise.

It came highly recommended, and some of my friends had been on it before and raved about it, so my expectations were high. Luckily, it didn’t let me down!

Top 5 Reasons to love a Chicago architecture boat tour:

 1. Chicago architecture. This is an obvious one, but I for one didn’t know how important Chicago was to the field of architecture. (Chicago is the birthplace of the skyscraper!) The buildings are spectacular and full of history.

2. Photography. If you are into photography, the tour is a great way to get a unique vantage point of the iconic buildings, bridges and neighborhoods of Chicago.

3. It’s by Navy Pier. The tour is really easy to get to and from since cabs are everywhere near Navy Pier. The pier is a great place to walk around and grab lunch before or after the tour.

4. There is a bar on board. It was a hot day, so water for me, and beer for my guests. Cheers!

5. Almost anyone would enjoy it. Young or old, almost anyone would love the iconic views, and a refreshing boat ride. It’s a great activity to enjoy with parents, kids or friends.
