I have had many flight delays in my travels, with only threats of cancelled flights. That is, until now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out.
Just the other day, my connecting flight home was cancelled. But the worst part was the fact that we flew from Chicago all the way to our final destination, circled for a few minutes and then turned around and made the flight back to Chicago. Yes, we flew roundtrip! Imagine my dismay when the pilot came over the speaker and said, “We have enough fuel to fly back, therefore we are returning to Chicago.” Fly back to Chicago? I just wanted to get home! My quick 45-minute flight turned into nearly two hours of flying time to get me nowhere – and an overnight stay at a Chicago airport hotel.
And so, with lots of very agitated people on board, the customer service agent directed us to the help desk, where they were busy rebooking flights and giving us hotel vouchers. In the past I have written about the necessities of a carry-on bag. Now I will rethink the way I pack.
Here is my newly revamped must have list for carry-on luggage:
- Makeup
- Glasses/contacts
- Medicine
- Toothbrush AND toothpaste!
- Floss
- Deodorant
- A book or magazine
- Car keys
- Cell chargers
- Picture of checked luggage
Have you been stuck in an airport overnight, and what did you use most from your carry-on?
