City Overview

Things to do in Cancun

Imagine a place with warm white sand beaches, crystal indigo seas, romantic Caribbean nights and world-class dining and nightlife. Does all this sound too good to be true? This is Cancun! World-renowned fishing, diving and snorkeling, archeological sites dating back thousands of years, a balmy tropical climate and water sports galore make Cancun the ultimate travel destination. Cancun is a place where guests can keep busy 24 hours a day participating in the many activities and tours available, but yet remain in a tranquil retreat where they can relax to their heart’s content along the peaceful shore of the Caribbean.

From ruins to riches, Cancun has it all, offering an exotic, tropical island setting buoyed by modern comforts and conveniences. In fact, it’s hard to imagine a site better endowed with natural, cultural and human-made attractions. Technically an island, Cancun’s resort zone is a 14-mile-long slender ribbon of sand, shaped like the number seven. Its stunning beaches must be seen to be believed; silky smooth, sugar-white sand lapped by the turquoise and emerald waters of the Caribbean.

Cancun offers an unrivaled combination of high-quality accommodations, dreamy beaches and a wide diversity of shopping, dining, nightlife and activities nearby. With translucent turquoise waters and powdery white sand beaches, coupled with coastal areas of great natural beauty, it’s typical to run out of vacation days before running out of things to do in Cancun.

What we are saying

Ziplining with the ZipSetGo Girls
by April on Jun 07, 2011
File under: Cancun, Mexico

On our last trip to Cancun, staying at the Dreams Riviera Cancun, we were ready for some adrenaline. The GoGirls are experts at the Zipline, so of course we were excited to see what Cancun had to offer at Selvatica. The adventure filled Selvatica has an ‘extreme zipline adventure’ with 12 ziplines in the Mexican jungle.

Catching up with the Cancun CVB

I had the opportunity to explore Cancun for the first time, and luckily I had some help. The lovely Eran from the Cancun CVB took us on a few adventures while we were there including the Selvatica Adventure park and Xcaret Eco Theme Park.

The GoGirls Make A Splash!

Selvatica describes itself as 'the adventure kingdom' and it comes pretty close to fulfilling those big shoes. After experiencing Selvatica's 12-line zipline course in the hot Mayan Sun in Cancun, April and I were ready to cool off. We jumped in an army truck and headed off to a nearby Cenote, a fresh water sink hole. I had never even heard of a cenote, but am always up for a new adventure, even if I am a bit scared.
