Why City Fun Facts

  • The tango originated in brothels in the immigrant ghetto of Buenos Aires in the late 19th century, in what is the present-day harbor of La Boca.
  • Argentina is one of the leading producers of wines ever since the 16th century and has approximately 1,800 wineries currently.

  • Buenos Aires cuisine, far from the world´s healthiest, has the best of Europe mixed with their Gaucho roots and their irresistible recipes. Meals high in proteins are the temptation of any tourist and a nightmare for vegetarians.
  • Plenty of things to do in Buenos Aires

  • The official language is Spanish, or Castellano for the Argentineans. Both names are valid and synonymous.
  • The official religion of Argentina is the Roman Catholic Church. Nevertheless, Argentina recognizes the freedom of religion, and you can easily find Synagogues, Mosques and most other places of worship of different creeds.
  • Buenos Aires cultural diversity is evident in the people s faces, manners and habits. This versatility is product of government encouragement to European immigration during the 18th century, which brought mainly Spanish, Italian British, Jewish and German settlers, among other ethnic groups.
  • Avenida 9 de Julio is the widest street in the world at an imposing sixteen lanes. It typically takes at least 2 traffic light rotations to cross.
  • The city of Buenos Aires has 48 districts called "barrios". Recoleta, Palermo, Boedo, Caballito, San Cristobal and Puerto Madero are some of the districts in the city.

Buenos Aires is a great place for travelers and even honeymooners.  Learn how Tango and experience their great gourmet cuisine including their scrumptious chorizo. Find comfort in their hotels and hostels  with a price range that will suit your budget. Don’t forget to visit the Recoleta Cemetery which is the resting place of the very famous Evita Peron.

If you're looking for great shopping, you've come to the right place! Buenos Aires is a fashion haven... just head over to Palermo and Palermo SoHo to find out for yourself! From boots to dresses and everything in between, some of the most amazing items in my closet have come from Buenos Aires.. but be forewarned, they don't come particularly cheap! Some of the items I purchased are on par with what I would have paid in the States but I love them so much I don't care! Buenos Aires is also the home of great food.. steaks, chorizos.. asado (slow cooked bbqs). When at a steakhouse, a bife de lomo is never a bad choice!
