The best restaurant in Vienna without a doubt: Griechenbeisl. To die for, and that is not an exaggeration. I was in heaven there. Seriously, when you go to Vienna, you have to go to Griechenbeisl. This is one of the oldest buildings in Vienna, and the coolest room to dine in is by far the Mark Twain room. Why, you ask? It is literally filled with signatures from famous authors, musicians, artists and politicians. How cool is that?
I didn’t eat here once, but twice, that’s how fabulous the Griechenbeisl is. Night one: I tried a dish served with white fish, potatoes and a salad; it was delicious! The vegetables and fish were so fresh and expertly prepared … very light and enjoyable. And the beer was great too! Scrumptious.
My second visit was just as divine. I’m totally serious. I started with a seasonal salad platter … not what I expected. It included many local favorites, which were delicious. For the main course, I went for the classic: beef goulash. This dish melts in your mouth. I followed up my meal with dessert … Sacher Torte with Whipped Cream and the Seasonal Fruit Strudel.
